ZK22 Zen & Kind combines a small surf resort, a solar-powered e-bike hub and a café with local food. Everything is made in Morocco and can be taken down and rebuilt elsewhere.

The resort

Three parts that work together and on their own.

Stay

Ten individual rooms in converted 40-foot containers, finished with local building methods and materials.

  • Up to four guests per room, with private bathroom
  • Close to the surf, a short ride from town
  • Every unit can be moved

Ride

A container that charges and rents e-bikes from its own solar roof, booked by app.

  • Eight e-bikes and two cargo e-bikes
  • A reduced rate for local residents
  • Two vending machines, open around the clock

Eat

A café serving local specialities and fresh fruit, bought from producers in the region.

  • Open daily from 11:00 to 22:00
  • Open to guests, neighbours and day visitors
  • A place to meet after the session
Why mobile

Built to leave the coast as we found it.

  • RemovableThe whole resort stands on light foundations. It can be dismantled and set up again at another spot.
  • Made in MoroccoContainers are sourced and converted by Moroccan workshops. Every further unit is built here too, wherever it ends up.
  • Powered by the sunThe e-bike hub runs on its own panels and battery, with the grid as a backup.

We start with one resort and prove it works before the next one follows.

    The first resort and the first e-bike hub. The site search and talks with local authorities are under way.

    Essaouira

    Follows once the pilot runs and its figures are on the table.

  3. Third

    Taghazout

    The best-known surf village on the coast completes the route.

Who we are

Kevin & Hajar

Kevin has been coming to Morocco for 18 years. This is where he and Hajar met. ZK22 is our way of giving something back to the country that brought us together.

Z and K stand for our two family names, and 22 is the number that has followed us since our wedding. Zen & Kind is how we want the place to feel: calm, and good to people and nature.
